Recordings from Wednesday Evenings

Each Wednesday evening we meet between 8pm and 10pm, share a cup of tea and a sandwich and then have a sing song. If you’ve read our blog before you’ll have come across previous recordings. While looking through those recordings I found three that I thought I’d share with you.

Firstly here’s John singing the Cobbler. John and his wife moved into our village in the past few months and have become regular visitors to our centre on Wednesday nights. The quality isn’t great, John was sitting at one end of the room and the recorder was at the other, but it’s an enjoyable performance all the same.

The second is a set of two slides O’Keeffe’s and the Kaiser. A slide is a type of fast jig, more like a reel than a jig, popular at ceili’s in Kerry and West Cork. Here’s Alan and Paul two of our regular musicians.

Lastly, Margaret and Annette are singing the Isle of Innishfree.
